Pinups - Yufei

This commission was really fun to do! It was for a friend from a friend! Two lovely ladies that I haven't seen much unfortunately since high school. Yufei is now a nurse, and Caroline wanted to surprise her for her birthday. Drawing a caricature of somebody you know is always doubly fun - it's a lot easier to capture their personality!

The client as well as the recipient were both really happy with it! As am I!

Pinups - Christina

Another fun Pinup commission! This lovely lady, Christina, is a makeup artist! She requested to have only the bust for her pinup and she requested to be wearing her favorite necklace.

I think it turned out fresh and fun!

Painting - Moodscape - Exploratory work

Back to painting! This time we had to create a background with a "mood" to it, and paint it in two different color palettes. I wasn't that inspired... so finally in desperation I just had to pick an idea and go for it. It's not the most original I admit, but I think the bunny makes it slightly fun to work on.

Here is the exploratory work we had to do before starting on the final pieces.

First a tonal study. Gouache on Watercolor paper.

And four color comps. Gouache on Watercolor paper. Exploring different color themes.

Digital Tools - Flash Maleficent - work in progress!

More fun with Flash!

This time we have to animate a flash "rig". So basically a symbol based character.

I decided to have fun and I'm going to animate my sexy version of Maleficent. Here's what she looks like:

Had fun designing this background as well. The tower in her castle.

Decided to make a dragon banner for the background. I kind of like the way it turned out.

Pinups - Kimberly

Here's a pinup I did for the lovely Kimberly! Her big 3-0 is coming up, and this was her birthday treat to herself.

She loves sexy lingerie - and the heart lollipop was her idea! ^_^ I think it turned out super cute!

Animation - Expressions Change - research!

So I'm getting ready for my head-turn/expressions change/lip sync exercise for Animation. I chose Miguel from "Road to El Dorado" because I want to keep practising humans, as well as his expressions are TO DIE FOR! I rewatched the movie (for research, I swear!). And I grabbed some of my favorites.

The clear winner first:

And here are some other gems:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy V Day! Here is a Valentine's card I whipped up - to encourage myself to one day finish my Alice animation! ^_^

Character Design - Pose Test - Cat Bot

Here is a pose test done for Character Design. The mandate - an anamorphic character that interacts with a prop, and then experiences some sort of conflict.

The inspiration for the robot cat came from my boyfriend's pet indie game project - Cat Bot! Nothing more fun than robots and cats.

We will be animating this I believe in our animation class at some point.

Here are some of my favorite poses:

Pinups - Marie

Another Pinup commission successfully delivered to its recipient - and enjoyed!

This pinup was commissioned by a former colleague of mine - as a present for his sister. Not only does she have STUNNING red hair, but her favorite hobby is sewing herself fabulous things to wear.

I really like the way the color palette turned out in this one!

Dr Sketchy Toronto Reloaded!

I had a great time yesterday at my first Torontonian Dr Sketchy! That was one of the first things I googled when I moved from Montreal - and I was so sad to hear that it had been canceled. I missed going to Dr Sketchy a lot!

So it's BACK! And I got to go with my friend Athena and we had a blast! Unfortunately it took us a while to find it so we didn't get the entire session - or good seats. So next time hopefully we'll get there early and snag the front row.

So here's my favorite sketch of the night! I was trying out brush markers. Kind of fun, but I still need to get used to them.

Turns out the same venue hosts and "acrobatic" life drawing session... I think I might just go to that as well!

Digital Tools - Flash - UNICORN! :D

So here is my silly tween exercise - done really fast in Flash. Didn't overdo it this time. But I like the feel of it in the end!

Fun with Unicorns!

Animation - Walk Cycle - Alice

Finally did all the little fixes I was meaning to do - and got around to scanning my Alice walk cycle! I combined two projects with this one - used Alice for my traditionally animated walk, and then used it for my Digitals Tools project which is still a work in progress.

Had lots of fun with the follow through! ;)

Caricatures - Antonio and his lovely lady Paula

More fun caricature commissions! This one was an adorable surprise gift for Paula, commissioned by her boyfriend (and my friend from Spain!) Antonio.

They make a lovely couple! Here is the result:

Cute Tekkonkinkreet! Black and White

In honor of spending so many hours on my Tekkonkinkreet background - I drew these quick doodles of Black and White. A mini-break from schoolwork!

Painting - Master Copy

Well, after slaving away all weekend - I ended up with my finished Master Copy - from the Tekkonkinkreet movie. Yet another case of me willingly digging my own grave...

Gouache on watercolor paper... I'm dead exhausted. But it was all worth it!

Digital Tools - Flash Unicorn

Working on a much less ambitious flash short - with a UNICORN.

Here is a work in progress still - more to come by Tuesday! :)
